  the society used to stress chaperons, however, i think in todays day and age.

  How much JW doctrine is in harmony with the Bible?

  some have stated that the jw's go too far with their doctrine, but that much of the basic.

  beliefs of the religion are correct.

  i don't want to debate whether the bible is correct.. i just want opinions on how much of the jw doctrine agrees with the actual teachings of .

  4) restoration of God's original purpose for earth

  Of course any good dub who's spouted the official KM presentations for more than 3 months will immediately cite Ps 37:29. "The righteous themselves will posses the earth. And they will reside FOREVER upon it." (Good dub sense stress and mind control added ) Most dubs have a wealth of Bible knowledge, or if not, at least 3 or 4 verses hardwired into their Borg programming. And Ps 37:29 is certainly on the short list. Anyway, I think I was about 12 yrs old when it dawned on me that this verse could mean I'm going to live forever on earth (if I do everything just right & get declared "righteous", fat chance, ). Or.............................hmmmmm.............."CLICK" ............it's talking about the righteous in a collective sense and to the extent that the "righteous" and the "meek" keep their heads down and don't make too many mortal enemies, well they're going to always be around as a group, but certainly, individual humans are gonna have the "same eventuality" as dogs & lions.

  as i've mentioned a few times before, i'm working on a round of articles for austin cline's site.

  the final "big daddy" article is an evaluation: is the wts a controlling, harmful cult?

  but i don't plan on doing an attack article.

  I applaud your efforts and, unfortunately, don't have anywhere to point you.
  
  I concur with yaddayadda's perspective.
  
  I sometimes wish I had started keeping a diary of what was going through my mind as the lights started clicking on about "The Truth".
  
  I think you're on the right track with trying to present something that appears balanced. It won't scare off a questioning dub so fast.

  My Mom died yesterday

  my mom passed away yesterday.

  she was a die-hard jw.

  i tried to explain why i couldn't accept certain teachings but rather than rationally consider what i had to say she chose to believe i was just "confused".

  when i was studying, the sister who studied with me was a pioneer and as "righteous-overmuch" as they come!

  i wasn't even baptized and she was already pressuring me to pioneer since i didn't work.

  nevermind that i had three little girls all under 4!!!.

  Found it! It was in the "Best of" section, buried deep in the "Best of Farkel". The thread was entitled "Rutherford Exposed: The Story of Berta & Bonnie"

  Here's the excerpt I was thinking of.

  "A good friend of mine was an elder in the hall in Long Beach, California, long after da judge?s death, is the source of this information. She requested that the elders (my friend being one of the elders) meet with her (she was in her 70?s), because she wasn?t sure if she would receive her heavenly reward. The elders met, and she told them the relationship she had with Rutherford over a 15-year period! She even showed them movies of the two of them, hugging and kissing, shortly before dropping this "bomb shell!"
  
  "Anyway, the elders made contact with headquarters, and Nathan Knorr met with Birda [her name was actually "Berta"], while at a District Convention in California, shortly afterward. Nathan Knorr, with some other officials present, said that they long knew of the adulterous relationship, but for some reason, never said anything to anyone about it; they also told her that because this was so far in the past, not to worry about it! (Is this a double standard or what?)"

  I miss Farkel's posts. I know he's a cantankerous old cuss but I really enjoyed his style. Wish there were still some JW apologist dragons to slay around here.

  I'm trying to remember if there's any "statute of limitations" on stuff like this. I remember reading a thread about cradle-robbin', adulteratin', JF Rutherford's alleged affair with his much younger "nutritionist". According to the thread, she supposedly came forward with a confession in her twilight years and good ol' Nathan H. Snorr told the local stooges to just sweep it under the carpet.
